The forthcoming Solar Eclipse of the 1st August brings so many different energies into alignment. July has clearly been a difficult month for many around the world. Despite falling oil prices, the recession does not seem to be slowing down yet, and this continues to create instability and insecurity.
However, as I write this article on 26th July, it is almost impossible not to notice the rising light of Senator Barack Obama as he sweeps across our planet in his personalised aircraft.
Yet again, I find myself back observing the subtle art of politics. What does it all mean? Who are these people that seemingly rise out of nowhere onto life's stage and present their ideas on how they can make everything so much better? Haven't we heard this all before?
Consequently, I decided to go in pursuit of some birth times to have a closer look.
I have drawn up birth charts for Senators Barack Obama and John McCain and also Hillary Clinton. I know she is out of the race - but she still holds a strong position in the background. But first, let me explain the above quote because what I found as I looked into these charts was that all three Senators had a planet at the same degree of the sign of Virgo. Give or take a few seconds 22 degrees to be precise. And it is clear from the above description what an important degree that is.
Hillary has the planet Saturn in Virgo 22 degrees. Barack the planet Mars at 22 degrees and John the planet Venus at 22 degrees. And as if all this wasn't enough of a coincidence, on 7th August the planet Mars will transit 22 degrees of Virgo in real time. That means they are all going to feel it in some way or another so I reckon a month of revelations in this regard.
So back to the question of are they running positive or negative? Well only time will tell. But, I have as I said earlier, looked at both charts.
Barack Obama has an Aquarian Ascendant - based on the time shown on his birth certificate. Here is his desire for freedom and independence. He wants to do it his way and make a change. But the striking thing about his chart is his natal Sun and Mercury are in the 6th house. This is not the house of career where we would expect to find these planets in the chart of a President, but in the house of service, selflessness and sublimation. So is Barack an ancient priest sent to minister this world in crises? Perhaps, and with his Mars in Virgo in the 8th house he is likely to have some very powerful people behind him. The 8th is said to be the house of death but also transmutation. It is Scorpio's natural home. There are always secrets with this sign but there is also a great deal of power. Virgo represents health and healing and it is possible that he carries these energies through his voice.
I would suggest BARACK OBAMA is here to carry a message - to deliver an impromptu speech - to rally people to change but then to retire and retreat into his own space working behind the scenes to make differences. He will find it hard to maintain a front-of-house image for long periods. So I would suggest that he gets a really dedicated and good team behind him or should I say in front of him if he is elected, because this is a man that needs a lot of mental stimulus and feedback, otherwise he will find tedium sets in. Would he make a good president? Well I would say YES. But if the going gets too tough he won't like it and could give away his power too easily. I would say his 22-24th years of life could have presented similar tough experiences. Only he will know what that means.
Senator McCain on the other hand has many astrological bonus points so to speak. If based on past theory, Mars in Leo in the 10th house with his natal Virgo Sun also occupying this position. Born to rule and with an air of flamboyance - arrogance and a slight hint of innocence. Could he be the new leader of the USA. Well let's look at the Venus in Virgo aspect again. For me these two energies don't blend very well. Venus as you can imagine is all about love and good feelings. Virgo, although a sign of submission, is also known for its ability to create and make order. No room here for slacking or mess. He may try too hard to be 'nice' under pressure, which could lead to him blowing a few valves along the way. He could then present a truly unpleasant image of someone who has spent a lifetime trying to 'hold it all in'. Added to this his Capricorn Moon could suggest a withholding of emotions.
He gives the impression of being a tough cookie but I don't buy it...Scorpio Ascendant (based on 11am birth time as given). This would suggest watch this one because yet again he is his own paradox. Would he make a good President? Well, it would be tidy in the White House and a lot of money would be spent on giving it a McCain makeover and this man knows how to make an impression but personally all these personalities in one person worries me. Especially as we approach 2012. I think the old times are not necessarily the new times. And although I feel Obama has his problems I wouldn't vote for someone who says "I win wars". With Venus in Virgo it is possible to see the beauty in endeavour but I feel this candidate could be a danger to the world if he was pushed too hard.
So Hillary and her Saturn in Virgo. Well these two definitely go together like cheese and biscuits, and it does seem sad that she is no longer in the running. But I think she will be back and we may well see her working with Barack in the not too distant future. He would be a very wise man indeed to enlist her support because she will fill in the gaps that he doesn't want to deal with. Saturn is about structure and support. It backs up the Virgo initiative to offer service where it may be truly needed. Saturn represents the father so she may well be working in areas where a father's support is needed or with children or where teaching and education are dominant themes. All of these areas are her babies.
Yes, I do believe she would have made a good president but clearly Obama has a mission to accomplish.
Enough of my ramblings, except to say that this month of August we have 2 New Moons. The first is on 1st August in the sign of Leo - added to which there is a Solar Eclipse. Always a powerful time and this month will be no exception – eclipses often represent a cutting or split from the whole in some way. It almost certainly marks a time of change. This could well connect with China and Canada – possibly the Olympic Games and a connection with oil in some way.
The second new moon is on 30th August in our intrepid sign of Virgo yet again. This New Moon presents a trine aspect with Jupiter in Capricorn. This is an incredibly powerful conjunction - I am tempted to say earth shattering. It could be time for our own Gordon Brown to face some stiff opposition in our own political back yard. It is certainly a good time for David Cameron to put himself forward with 3 planets in Libra. (more on that next month).
Let us not forget the Full Moon in Leo on 16 August. Religious battles come to mind here which at the moment could pretty much kick off anywhere in the world. They may not be with missiles but more likely with words. But I believe there will be a positive result that leads to a long-lasting solution.
